About Us

The Beaverlodge Barracudas Swim Club is a member of the Alberta Summer Swim Association (ASSA) which is comprised of six swim regions from across the province.  The Barracudas belong to Region A, which is comprised of many swim clubs from Slave Lake to Beaverlodge, Grande Prairie to High Level.

During the regular season our club hosts and attends swim meets with other Region A clubs.  At the end of the season, all Barracudas swimmers are encouraged to compete at Regionals in Grande Prairie where they may earn the privilege of moving on to the ASSA Provincial Championships in Edmonton to represent the Barracudas and compete against swimmers from across Alberta. The ASSA maintains a comprehensive website (https://swimalberta.ca/home-assa/) about rules and regulations, officiating, events and rankings.

The main goals of summer swimming are to encourage swimming and training for competition, self-development, leadership, and sportsmanship. As well as to promote swimming as a means of healthy exercise to improve the physical fitness.
